Words left here by someone else

Read the Scribbles

A collection of notes people chose to leave behind. Some may sound familiar. Some may help you find words of your own.

To Mom,

I heard your voice today. Rummaging through my phone and deleting voicemails left by spam callers, there were messages left by you at the very bottom of the list. I almost didn’t click to listen, wasn’t sure if my heart could handle it, but I’m glad I did. For a few seconds in time I got to hear you again, to hear the love you had in simply saying “hi”. Your voice trailing off as you said “call me back” before hanging up. I wish so much I could call you now. I miss you mom.

To Mom,

I am so mad that you aren’t here anymore. Mad that you didn’t tell us exactly what was going on. Mad that maybe we just didn’t see it more clearly. More than anything though I miss you, we miss you..

Grief. It’s the rollercoaster that nobody asked to ride. The club nobody wanted to join, yet somehow we all end up in at some point in our lives. The feelings that show up when we don’t want them to. The tears that roll down our faces without invitation. The screams that emerge from the depths of our souls, crying out with the agonizing reality that our lives have been changed over the loss of something or someone that we will never have again. Never see again. Never speak to again. Grief..

...my heart is saddened over the loss my children have endured at such a young age, and in such a short window of time. It doesn't seem fair for little hearts to feel such sadness so early in their lives.

To Dad,

I hope you knew how loved you were. How important all of the things you taught me were, and that I carry them with me every day. Miss you so much.. I promise not to take any wooden nickels.
